We have received quite a few messages from readers who have been looking for anti-allergy pillows and duvets recently and so we have been out looking to see what’s new in the UK market. John Lewis has a great reputation for high quality products and we have always been impressed with their wide range of bedding and so they seemed to be the best place to start! So we took a good look at the John Lewis & Partners Specialist Synthetic Active Anti Allergy Standard Pillow with soft support.

It’s early days but my initial thoughts are great – well made, British Allergy Foundation approved, with a 100% cotton cover and a nice amount of well distributed synthetic filling. For £22 it seems pretty reasonable especially as so far it has helped me get a good night’s sleep. The filling is made of 80% polyester and 20% Amicor which I understand is a specially treated fibre that gives anti-fungal and antibacterial protection. This is particularly beneficial for allergy sufferers which may be helping me too as I suffer from hayfever and sinus congestion. I tend to sleep on my back and ‘m finding the pillow really comfortable, soft but offering good support possibly because it is quite thick. In my opinion, these properties are not so commonly found together in pillows. I’m wondering if this pillow should be labelled as a soft / medium support pillow as it may not suit those that prefer a soft, feather or down pillow, as this is thicker with more bounce.

Overall, I would recommend this pillow for allergy sufferers, it’s well made, machine washable, hopefully will last awhile and is a decent price.
