With this pillow, size matters. A good buy if you need a big chunky one, otherwise choose the Panda pillow.
A massive bamboo-covered, memory foam pillow. It’s eco-friendly, hypoallergenic and may help combat neck pain, snoring, insomnia and asthma.
If you’re specifically after a big pillow then this is a good buy, but if you want a quality bamboo pillow in a more normal size, go for the Panda Luxury Bamboo pillow instead (in our top ten best pillows) as it’s just nicer: read review here.
Bamboo pillows? The obvious question that springs to mind is “Why bamboo?”
Well, bamboo is hypoallergenic so it’s friendly to people who suffer from asthma and allergies. It’s also kind to sensitive skin as it is antibacterial and, supposedly, has natural cooling qualities. All of which suggests that shredded bamboo is an ideal product to use for a pillow cover.
The filling is memory viscoelastic foam that embraces the heat from your head and adjusts to the shape accordingly, personalising the pillow even if you alter your sleeping position. It is a large, firm product (you’ll need a sizeable pillowcase) that aims to offer a more reliable than usual head support position.
The general consensus from customers who’ve used the pillow is that it does help with neck pain if you’re a side or back sleeper. However, if you’re a stomach sleeper then despite the manufacturer’s claims, I wouldn’t recommend this pillow for you: some people have actually complained of going to bed feeling fine and waking up with a stiff neck!
It’s not cheap, although it is on sale at less than half price at the time of reviewing, but it is a durable product so it shouldn’t need replacing in a hurry. There are nicer standard sized bamboo pillows (see the Panda Luxury Bamboo pillow which is also available in kids and toddler sizes) but if you need a big pillow for a big bed – this offers good support.
